Henry Charles Ramos

1856–1928

One of the most famous American bartenders ever

Henry Ramos was a rigidly upstanding (and teetotaling) bartender and saloon-keeper in New Orleans (and possibly Baton Rouge and Birmingham, as well). Most notably, Ramos opened the Imperial Cabinet bar in New Orleans, 1887, with his brother, and operated it until 1918. There, he became particularly famous for the Ramos Gin Fizz, an elaborated gin fizz and rare example of a famous drink that bears the creator’s name.
