Stan Jones

c. 1940–1990

Wrote the only important drink book of the 1970s

Stan Jones was an obscure bartender-turned-author with an interest in mixed drinks during the 1970s, when almost nobody else cared. Jones compiled and self-published what is perhaps the largest cocktail recipe book in history: “Jones’ Complete Barguide” (1977), in addition to various other thematic books on drinks, often sponsored by liquor companies.
